A familiar, Japanese-inspired aesthetic
packed with practical details
Narasada—a maker known for ingenious, highly practical designs—chose a flat-ground blade with a 2.5mm thickness to capitalize on the superior rigidity inherent in a compact size. The blade’s layered pattern gives it the appearance of a traditional Japanese kitchen knife, a look that complements its versatility in tasks ranging from woodworking to food preparation. The steel used is SKD11.
SKD11 is a high-carbon, high-chromium alloy tool steel defined under JIS G 4404 (commonly known as cold work die steel). It offers exceptional wear resistance, high hardness (HRC 58–62 after heat treatment), and minimal dimensional distortion during quenching, making it ideal for precision metal molds, punches, and industrial blades.
The design features a prominent heel (*ago*) familiar to Japanese users, ensuring an intuitive, stress-free grip the moment you pick it up. It includes a lanyard that allows for length adjustments without untying knots, and the clever design lets you customize how the pinky finger rests against the handle to suit your preference.
The flat-ground blade, crafted from SKD11 Damascus steel, features a beautiful layered pattern and offers excellent cutting performance—capable of even slicing sashimi.
The handle is simple yet wide, offering great freedom in grip style while providing a large contact area for fingers and palm, making it easy to apply force.
Total length: 128mm
